Dear Oakfield-Alabama Families and Community Members,
We want to share an important leadership update with you. At a special meeting this afternoon, the Board of Education placed Superintendent Fisgus on administrative leave, effective immediately. The Board also appointed Robert L. Banzer as Acting Superintendent of Schools to ensure continuity and steady leadership. Mr. Banzer will focus on educational and operational priorities, and community engagement during this transition.
Mr. Banzer has over 9 years of experience as a Superintendent, having served at Northport-East Northport UFSD before retiring. Throughout his career, Mr. Banzer held key administrative roles, including Director of Human Resources at Wayne CSD and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction at Brockport CSD. Mr. Banzer has also served as Middle School Principal and Assistant Principal in Brockport. Since retiring Mr. Banzer held interim positions as Superintendent at Waterloo CSD and most recently as Principal of Caledonia MS/HS. Before entering administration Mr. Banzer taught Social Studies and coached various sports for the first decade of his career.
We will continue to keep you informed as appropriate.
Thank you for your continued trust, understanding, and support as we move our community forward.
Sincerely,
Justin Staebell
President, Oakfield-Alabama Board of Education
